The Healing Power of Forgiveness: 3 Techniques

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Bill Austin People who experience bad health often have major league forgiveness issues in their lives. When we hold negativity in our energy field, inevitably it expresses itself as physical disharmony or bad health. Forgiveness is the major way that humans can release negativity or cleanse it from their energy fields. When we forgive anyone or anything, what happens is that to all extents and purposes it never happened. This is how the world is healed. And when you heal one of your relationships, everyone who is in a similar situation is helped as well. Below are three very powerful techniques I use for myself whenever a forgiveness challenge arises in my life. Forgiveness Technique Number 1. Get into a meditative state of mind (calm, relaxed and peaceful) and think about the person or situation that is bothering you. Ask your soul for a symbol for the relationship or the event. Play with the symbol or image that you receive. If it’s dark, add light to it. If it’s closed, open it up. Working with things as energy is very powerful for as you transform the symbol, you transform the relationship or event as well. This is one of those techniques that is very effective, but I have no idea how or why this works. You can use this same technique when you want to resolve a problem or when you just want to get in touch with your inner guidance. Forgiveness Technique Number 2. Get into a meditative state of mind and ask your soul to join you. Pretend that you are your soul. Say out loud: “I am one with my soul.” Visualize your soul as a shining pillar of light. Invite the soul of the person whom you want to forgive to join your soul. Explain your point of view to the other person’s soul, and ask the other person’s soul to explain his or her point of view. Please note that your souls get along fine. The forgiveness issue is a personality one. This technique can also be used in other areas. If you’re struggling with an illness, visualize it as energy and talk to it. Forgiveness Technique Number 3. Get into a meditative state of mind and think about the person or situation that you want to forgive. Think about how that person or event changed your life. How would your life have been different without that person or experience? What did you learn from that relationship or event? After doing this, you usually will find that there were some benefits to the association. Acknowledge this and thank the other person for that gift. _________________________________________________________________ Bill Austin is a spiritual healer and teacher based in St Petersburg FL. Mind Your T’s And R’s For Free Business Growth

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Roger Harrop In my sort of business testimonials and referrals are the oxygen that powers the business growth. I try never to miss an opportunity to ask a Client, or a delegate, for a testimonial and similarly I always try to obtain three referrals from every Client I have. But why should that apply only to my sort of business? I’m sure we’ve all been in shoe shops where the assistant says: “a good choice sir (or madam) - I’ve got a pair of those”. That’s a testimonial and it does help persuade us to buy. It is just the same for your business - no matter what it is, no matter what size of business you are, prospective clients will be more likely to buy your products or services if they see, or hear, testimonials from others talking about the experience they have had with you and/or your products or services. This is totally free marketing! Despite this obvious truth I look at the websites of many businesses which, not only, don’t seem to “sell” to me at all but include no testimonials from satisfied customers. That’s a big opportunity lost. Many of you will have heard me talk about how I believe businesses now need to differentiate themselves - and that’s on the process they take customers through rather than on the quality and performance of their products or services. Everywhere I travel around the world I find these days that there simply aren’t mediocre products or services any more - or indeed, mediocre companies. If you are mediocre you are dead, its as simple as that. We all have such high expectations now on the quality of the products or services we buy. Many of us can remember how cars used to regularly break down, for example, but no more that is simply unacceptable. This means then that we must differentiate ourselves on the “experience” a client has in dealing with us - the way we treat them, the efficiency of our processes, and the professionalism and approachability of our people. If this is the case then testimonials become an even more important part of our sales and marketing strategy. Only from testimonials (and referrals - but more of that shortly) will potential clients hear about the real experience of doing business with you. So, please, if you’re not already doing it, from this moment on: Ask Clients for Testimonials - and guide them in what you want. Ask them to include in their testimonial more about the experience of doing business with you than about the quality of the product or service you provide.- - and, by the way, a video testimonial that you can then put up on your website is worth three written ones! Now what about referrals? A referral is where a client specifically recommends you to another potential client. Referrals are worth their weight in gold! - they are the hottest lead you’re ever likely to get and must, therefore, be worth going to some lengths to achieve. Many of us don’t like to ask the client for referrals - it can, perhaps, feel confrontational but my friend Frank Furness has an answer to that. What Frank recommends is that you ask the client: “If you were me, who would be the three people you would approach to get business?” Try it - it works! I would suggest to you, therefore, that you must ensure that a fundamental part of your sales and marketing process is that you and your salespeople never, ever, miss an opportunity to - ask for three referrals from every single customer. You don’t have to be clever at maths to work out the free business growth that could so easily generate for you. PS. I find that some members of the traditional professions Solicitors, Architects, Accountants etc. dont think anything of what I say applies to them. Well it Does! you, above all, should be in the business of testimonials and referrals big time! 2007 Roger Harrop Associates Speaker of the Year with the Academy for Chief Executives, Roger Harrop is a former plc CEO, international speaker, author, business adviser and consultant. Job Market A Big Part Of Society’s Problems

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Andre Bias When stating my first business it was my goal to work a part-time or full-time position during start-up so that I could have consistent money coming in. I had never been unemployed and I was surprised at how difficult it was to obtain employment. When I was employed I was under the impression that those who were not working were either lazy or just lacked the education and skills necessary to do anything worthwhile. Now I realize that is not the case. I have two college degrees, so I have many skills and I look for jobs every day. In the past eight months I have went to around 20 interviews and received no job offers. I quickly realized why people sell drugs, steal, and kill. Even if you have the skills you can still get screwed over, The biggest problem in the employment process is, employers dont want to train people, they discriminate against certain people, and they pay people less than what they are worth. This also made me realize, the only way to make it in this world financially is by creating wealth on your own. Employers would rather hurt individuals than help them. It is unfortunate but that is how it is. Andre Bias is the owner of http://www.kidfriendlyentertainment.com, an online source for top notch DVDs for children 10 years old and younger. Do You Want To Learn To Crochet?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Susan Norrad Have you been thinking about learning to crochet? Manypeople have told me that they would just love to be ableto crochet, but they feel it would be too hard for themto learn. They know nothing about yarn, hooks or even how to begin. Actually, crochet is not difficult at all. It’s only hard if you think it is, so you have to change your thinking by looking at the basics of crochet. Have you ever seen children (or perhaps you have donethis yourself) playing with a piece of yarn or string? Theymake a slip knot in the yarn or string using their fingers, then make a loop and pass it through the first loop, then another loop through that loop and so on. This is the same as the basic starting chain in crochet, except you are using a crochet hook instead of your fingers. How do you choose your yarn? In selecting your yarn, there are five basic types: baby/fingering, sportweight/baby, worsted weight, chunky and bulky. Worsted weight is a good type for a beginner. Fingering and baby yarns are very fine, sportweightis usually 3 ply (ply means the number of strands thatare twisted together to form the yarn). Worstedweight is a 4 ply yarn. Chunky and bulky are heavier yarns. Yarns can be made of synthetic or natural fibers.Acrylics are popular and easy to work with andwash. Cotton yarns are very easy to work withand make great crocheted dishcloths, an easyproject for beginners. For a beginner, you will want to stay away fromusing the fuzzy and fur yarns. They are soft and very pretty, but more difficult to work with as it is hard to see your stitches. You can try them later as your crocheting skills improve. To choose your yarn, just look at the labels. Theywill tell you what you need to know. Some yarnseven have free patterns inside the label. You willwant to save those in your pattern collection, evenif you are not interested in making the item right now. It’s always great to build a pattern collectionfor later use. Next you will choose your crochet hook. Hookscan be made of aluminum, plastic, wood or steel.Steel hooks are very small and used in fine worksuch as doilies and lace. As a beginner, you will be learning with the worstedweight yarn so you will want a H (5.00mm), I (5.5mm)or J (6.00mm) hook. As you learn to crochet, you will want to build a collection of the many differenthook sizes. The problem I have found that most beginners have isgetting the hook and yarn working together. But aswith anything, practice makes perfect. It doesn’t takelong before you will get the hang of it and be in theflow. Before you actually make an item you should do somepractice pieces. Start out making a chain of about 15to 20 chains. You do that by making a slip knot by wrappingthe yarn around your finger and pulling loop through, thenput the slip knot onto your crochet hook. Pull on bothends of the yarn to tighten and adjust the slip knot. Then bring your yarn over your hook from back to front, grab the yarn with your hook and pull through the loop on your hook. Repeat until you have 15 to 20 chain stitches. Now you will use the single crochet (sc) to make yourpractice piece. In the second chain from your hook (just count two chains away from the hook) and insertyour hook into that chain. Put your yarn over the hookand draw that yarn through the chain stitch. There are now 2 loops on hook. Bring your yarn over the hook from back to front, and draw it through both loops on hook. One loop remains on the hook. You have completed your first singlecrochet stitch. Keep repeating the single crochet stitch until the end of the chain row. If you started with 20 chains, you will 19 single crochet stitches in this row as you skipped the first chain and began in the second chain from your hook. To do your next row of single crochet, first you makea chain stitch by wrapping the yarn over your hook andpulling it through the loop on your hook. Now you turnyour work so that the last sc you made on the previousrow is now at the beginning. Make one single crochet stitch in that stitch and in each remaining stitch of the previous row. Repeat this for every new row. You will notice that there are two loops on the tops of the completed single crochet stitches. You put your hook through both those loops. I have noticed that a mistakethat some beginners make is by only going through oneloop of the single crochet. That is a variation that workswell in some patterns, but you will learn that later as yourskills improve. Keep working your sample piece for practice until youget the feel for crocheting. This will help you to learn how to hold your hook in a way that makes it easy to grab the yarn and it will also help you to get your tensionon. You may find that you are crocheting too loosely ortoo tightly at first. As you practice, you will learn howto keep your tension uniform throughout the wholeproject. Once you have practiced and feel you are ready to tryan easy pattern, you can do a search online for a scarfpattern, which is what most beginners start out with.Or, as mentioned before, dishcloths are easy patternsfor beginners. By searching online you will find everything you needto know about crochet. There are free patterns, chartswith crochet abbreviations used in patterns, charts forhook sizes, etc. I am sure that you will enjoy your crochet experience. I find it very relaxing, a great stress reliever. It is also fun to work with the different yarn colors and textures. It is great to be able to make items for yourself and as gifts for family and friends. You can do it while you are watching TV, or while sitting in a doctor’s waiting room, or traveling as a passenger in a vehicle. Just get yourself a crochet tote bag (or crochet one yourself) and you are ready to go. I hope this information has been helpful to you in makingyour decision to take up crochet as a hobby. Feeling Connected in Relationships

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Gary Van Warmerdam Do you sometimes feel disconnected from your partner? Do you feel that you are drifting apart or not being heard? Listening and communicating is more than just the exchange of words and concepts. We dont need an umbilical cord to be connected to someone, but we do need to pay attention to create the feeling of being connected. It is with the power of our attention that we build channels of communication, not with what we say. One of the detrimental assumptions we make in relationships is that we understand our partner. In making this assumption, we have stopped listening closely to them. We hear the words or phrases they say and assume that we know what is coming next. Our minds quickly project the story as we see it. We stop paying attention because we have already moved on to the conclusion our mind has come up with. We might hear their words, but our attention has gone on to forming our reply. By losing our attention to our own thoughts, we no longer have that connection of presence with our partner. That presence is something that is felt as an energetic and emotional connection; our partners can sense when it is there, and when it is not. When we do not listen, our partners lose the feeling of connection that we all yearn for in our relationships. Our partner may start to lose the trust that we are there for them in other ways as well. When we are really interested in what our partners say, we ask questions. We do not comment or give our opinions. We listen by asking questions that explore our partners viewpoint and their understanding. It does not mean that we have to agree or propose a solution, only that we listen attentively. Our attention is there with our partner in their world, and not concerned with getting our opinion heard. This dynamic of listening is often genuine and automatic with people who are just getting to know each other. Eager to learn as much as they can, new couples enjoy the energy and emotion in channels of attentive communication. Later, as we become more familiar with our partners and assume we know them, we might not pay close attention to what they say. This changes the emotional quality of the channel that connects us. The energetic and emotional quality of being present with them is compromised or lost. Women generally notice the changes in communication sooner than men, because they pay more attention to their emotions. When we assume to know what is being said we dont pay attention as closely. We are subconsciously sending the message that what someone says is not important. This is sometimes interpreted as, If what I say is not important, then they must think that I am not important. This interpretation creates a reaction that closes the channel of communication even further. Practical steps to open channels of communication There are many things you can do to strengthen or create channels of communication. When you are listening to someone, refrain from commenting. This will help you pay closer attention to that person and what they are saying. You can relax when you know that you dont have to come up with a comment for reply. To hold up your end of the conversation, simply limit what you say to exploratory questions. It may help to think of your self as a journalist doing an interview. Your job is to ask questions and explore what your partner is talking about. You will likely notice that your mind has comments about what they say. When this happens, notice that you are no longer focused on understanding their communication. You are also no longer present with them and have lost the energetic connection. You may also find it tempting to speak your comments. Refrain, as this isnt really listening. When you jump in with your own opinions you are sending the message that what they are saying is less important than your words. When someone is interrupted they often feel put down and disrespected. In order to avoid those feelings they may stop sharing themselves with you. By focusing your attention differently in relationships, you can redirect the channels of communication between you and everyone you relate with. By changing the channels of communication you change the emotion and way you feel with people in your life. With practice it becomes possible to consciously connect with everyone in your life. As you practice using your attention with awareness you get to determine the quality of emotion in the channels of communication. Then it is only a matter of asking your self, What do I want to feel in my relationships? What can your relationships feel like? Often the most beautiful feelings we experience in relationship happen when no one is talking. There is a lot to be present with using just the power of attention on each other and what we are feeling. The beauty and intensity of connection when two people silently listen to each other transcends words. Gary van Warmerdam is a coach and teacher of common sense and unconditional love. The Small Business Approach to Market Research

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

By Heather Loftiss Running a small business or launching a start-up company is very time consuming. Most of the time it feels as if there arent enough hours in the day to get the job done. Because of this, many small businesses skip some of the most important details in securing their success. Market research is one of these crucial steps that many businesses omit. How can you go ahead with a plan to sell a product when you dont know if its going to sell? How can you set a price when you dont even know your customers price sensitivity or your competitors prices? Market research, although time consuming and frequently omitted by small companies, is largely necessary to ensure a businesss success. This article will define market research and provide a step-by-step approach to tackling the subject as a small business. Market Research An Introduction Market research is the process of collecting data on consumers, competitors, marketing and sales channels, and the forces affecting your industry. Consumer research usually contains data on basic customer characteristics and their buying behavior. Competitor research includes gathering data on product lines and pricing, competitors current advertisements, and some perceptual mapping. Channel research simply means that you must view the overall picture. How do you fit into the industry value chain? Who are the best suppliers, distributors, and retailers? How will your product reach the end consumer? Finally, gathering industry research involves analyzing Porters Five Forces along with market history and probable forecasts. Legalities and any political issues that may concern your business fit in here as well. Step 1: Set Goals for Yourself As with any project, your first step towards completing quality market research is to set some goals. What do you want to accomplish while doing the market research? These goals should focus on the process itself. Setting dates in a timeline is always a good idea if youve outlined multiple steps for your market research campaign. Here are some ideas for goals: Segment your market by age, income, and location Test interest in new products and services through product comparisons Improve customer relations Develop new strategies to hedge competition Optimize product prices Step 2: Turn Goals into Results Now that youve outlined all the goals for your campaign, transform your ambitions into the results you want. Where as the goals focused on your accomplishments during the market research, the results focus on what you want to get out of the market research. Think of the ways you envision your business improving after the research is done. Some examples: You can target the best customer segment possible You set the best price to ensure high product movement You close sales more quickly by knowing customer psychographics Your business has contingency plans You are more responsive and you move faster than your competition Step 3: Start Your Research All the preparation is done. You have your goals and your desired end results. The task of doing all the market research may seem daunting, but start small and start easy. Start with the easiest category customers and ask every possible question. Who are they? How old are they? How much do they make? Do they have families? Are they risk takers? Etc, etc. Move on to competitors, channels, and environment while still asking about all of the details. Answer as many questions as possible. Here are a few brief topics for each category to start your research: Customers Look at the demographics, psychographics, behavioristics, and geographics of your customers. Demographics are the basic ones like age, sex, income level, and marital status. Psychographics are the ways your customers perceive the benefits of your products and their motivations for buying. For example, two people with the same demographics may buy two SUVs for two different reasons: usefulness and style. Behavioristics are the ways your customers acts. How they spend their free time and what hobbies they have fall under here. Finally, geographics are simply the locations of your customers.Next look at the type of buyer your customers are. Are they innovators, early, adopters, early majority, late majority, or laggards? What groups are they influenced by and who do they influence? Also determine the level of involvement your customers will have with the product. Is it a high risk product based on their income level? Is the purchase time too great?Competitors Start researching your competitors products. See what they offer and look at their prices. Do some reconnaissance work and call them up seeking information. One way to get good results is to say you are a local college student who is doing a profile on the industry this competitor is in. Ask for basic financials if you can. At least see if you can obtain their product costs and profit margins for your project. Also look at the current advertising and promotions your competitors are doing. See how they are affecting customers. Get opinions on each business and develop strategies to hedge the competition. Create a perceptual map to determine how customers see the major competitors in the industry. Find a point where you can position yourself in the best possible way.Channels Start researching manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and retailers. Are there ways you can cooperate with any of them? Do you need to go through a distributor or can you even sell factory direct items? Discover the fastest and most cost effective ways you can do business. Do not be afraid to question your current business model.Environment Begin by analyzing Porters Five Forces. Look at the strengths and weaknesses your buyers and suppliers have. Determine if it is easy or hard to enter your market and if you need to be wary of potential entrants undermining your business. Are there substitutes that your customers may switch to? Are there costs associated with switching products for the customer? Be sure to research any political and legal problems that may come up with your product. Keep an eye out for new laws that may affect your industry and your products. Places to Find Info This is just a start; there are many more subjects you can research depending on how many resources you have and whether you want to hire a market research company to ease your burden. Just remember to plan your campaign by setting goals for yourself, turning them into desired results, and then beginning to do your market research. Asking questions is the key to market research. Be as thorough as possible and utilize as many resources as possible. Heres a quick list of some places to get started: - the Internet - S&P Industry Surveys - MarketResearch.com - local Chamber of Commerce - government publications - Yellow Pages - old invoices - newspapers - business journals - online published marketing research reports - surveys of current clients - competitors ads - competitors themselves (purchase their customer lists and ask for financials) - customer list companies - Simmons Market Research Bureau (http://www.smrb.com) Marketing Tips Provided to You by: Heather Loftiss, President of Water Design Studio (http://www.waterdesignstudio.com), Author of the Customer Connection (http://www.morerepeatsales.com) Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Heather_Loftiss http://EzineArticles.com/?The-Small-Business-Approach-to-Market-Research&id=231894 phentermine online physicians and pharmacy phentermine prescription buy phentermine without a doctor cheapest phentermine online without a prescription

The Helpful And Beneficial Effects Of Aromatherapy On Your Body

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Tim Gorman Our sense of smell has a very powerful effect on us. Our ability to smell things and the quality of that experience (sharp or dull sense of smell) can and do affect our ability to taste, our moods and our memory. Our tongue senses only sweet, bitter, salty and sour — every other sensation that we usually think of as “taste” (and there are about 20) are actually odors that our nose and brain are picking up. Aromatherapy exploits the connection between the brain and the body; pleasant, familiar smells have the power to put us in a good mood. New smells give us the opportunity to form new positive associations. Essential oils help us create positive linkages between our brain and our bodies. Different scents affect parts of the brain that in turn, affect our bodies and our emotions. Different oils can calm us, reinvigorate us, help us with weight loss and memory loss, help us sleep and even help us conquer depression. Various aromas will give us a profound sense of well-being. There are so many varieties of oils for you to experiment with! Most oils affect people in similar ways, but every body-mind is different and will experience the effects of the oils a little differently. This makes the process all the more interesting. There are many ways for you to try the oils. You can try the oil in a relaxing massage; you can place the oil in a diffuser; or you can add drops of the oil in a hot bath. Regardless of the method you use the oil, you will feel better and healthier every time you try one out. You can even share oils with friends and compare your reactions. Bakery

By Eddie Tobey A bakery is a place that practically everyone has visited at one time or another. It is the place where we can get delicious cakes, pastries, cookies, bread, biscuits and even sandwiches! We can buy cakes for first-year birthdays, graduation parties and weddings. However, if you are one who counts calories, it is better to avoid frequently visiting the bakery! There are basically two types of bakeries: wholesale bakeries and retail bakeries. The wholesale bakery is the place where there is mass production of bread, cakes and other bakery goodies for distribution purposes. There is usually a large workforce of people who bake and make foodstuffs while following hygienic standards set by the government. A wholesale bakery need not only be a factory; there are even small family businesses that run wholesale bakeries. These family-run businesses are more often found in towns and small cities where they supply bread and foodstuffs to shops of the town. A retail bakery is the place we usually visit for buying bakery items; we can choose from a wide range of bakery products. The most famous of the bakeries are the Italian bakeries and the French bakeries, as they are world-famous for their pastries and breads. For one to actually start running a bakery, the purchase of the necessary bakery equipment and bakery supplies is essential. Then, of course, there has to be some knowledge of bakery management for the owner of the bakery, either through attending a course or through pure experience. The easiest and cheapest way to start a bakery will be buying a bakery that is for sale, as it will have at least some of the necessary equipment for starting a bakery. Bakery provides detailed information about bakery, bakery equipment, bakery for sale, bakery management and more. Bakery is the sister site of Wine Picnic Baskets.
